a) About
This is a dynamic collection of words that people dislike. The experiment predominantly focuses on (but is not limited to) personal bias regarding North Amercian English. The project is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The physical component of this project involved placing envelopes around Vancouver in specific locations. As the envelopes were collected their contents were placed on a dedicated page in this blog. The words are listed in no particular order. The spelling and formating of the words are kept as close to the original as possible.
The web component of this project consists of a list which can be added to by anyone who encounters this site. Words in any language are welcome.
+ Update: Tuesday May 20th, 2008 +
This permutation of the project has come to a close with the Emily Carr University Graduation Exhibition which ran from May 3rd to 11th, 2008. Words were no longer being collected as of April 20th, 2008. For the exhibition each hand written word was pinned to a board, listed under the location where it was collected. To see documentation of the work you may go here: Pictures!
A second variation of the project was displayed at the Helen Pitt group show “Leave Room For The Holy Spirit”, curated by Tiziana LaMelia, Robyn Banks and Tegan Moore.
Contributions may still be made to the website, although a use has not yet been determined.
